Mirko Cro Cop has been training with Marcio Corletta and Pawel Nastula
Mirko trains very hard for every fight. Upcoming fight with Brazilian fighter Gonzaga is no exception. He has been training for weeks now in his private gym with two-times BJJ world champion (Marcio Corletta), and is also recently joined by an Olympic judo gold medalist (Pawel Nastula - on picture). Just pronouncing the name Pawel Nastula causes respect in all judokas. The man is a two times world champion (years 1995 and 1997) and also an Olympic gold medalist (Atlanta, 1996). During his prime he won 312 times in 1220 day. His manager Michal Szymanski says no one has accomplished anything like that in judo.
Even a great sports figure like him is impressed with Mirko:
"I have been participating in MMA for 2 years now, and Mirko is the best, so I wanted to train with him. I can learn a lot from him, and if he also learns something from me, I will be honored. I've never met a greater professional than Mirko. He is completely focused on training for every second of the session."
Nastula'sstyle suits Mirko, because he is trying to throw him or take him down, the same thing Gonzaga will try to do.
"Uh, his attacks exhaust me, but that's the best way to get specific cardio", says Mirko, whose training partners constantly exchange in the ring, and he, although tired, doesn't back down against anyone.
Since Gonzaga is a BJJ artist, Marcio Corletta, world champion in BJJ in years 2001 and 2004, is also here. This 31 year old Brasilian was also three times 2nd best in BJJ world championship tournaments. Like Mirko's ex-training partner Fabrizio Werdum, Marcio Corletta trains Mirko in ground fighting.
"Mirko promised to come to Porto Allegre in Brasil because he wants to earn a BJJ black belt, and I want to show him the origin of Internazionale, world soccer champion, of which I am a passionate fan."

Marcio Corleta sharpens Mirko's ground game
The black belt from Silvio Behring, Marcio Corleta, is already four weeks training the ground game of the Croatian fighter Mirko Cro Cop, who will face Gabriel NapĆ£o at the UFC 70, in April 21st.
“Cro Cop is pretty strong and he is improving a lot his ground game. I am glad that he had contracted me to be his ground trainer from now. He is satisfied about my trainings and he promised to me that after the bout, he will go to Porto Alegre city to train just the ground game, because according to him, he wants to be a black belt some day. And the worst thing is that he has a good way and is pretty smart to learn. I believe that he will surprises everyone with his ground game, but we are only starting everything”, told Corleta. Another guy who was pupil of the BJJ world champion was the movie star, Jean Claude Van Damme. “We came to meet Mirko and to see how the trainings were. He is cool, funny and falls in love with the BJJ. I teached him for one week when he was here and he got impressed with the BJJ techniques”, commented him.

Pawel Nastula is suspended by NSAC
In addition to testing positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone after his October 21st, 2006 Pride fight in Las Vegas, Pawel Nastula also tested positive for three banned stimulants - phenylpropanolamine, pseudoephedrine, and ephedrine. Nastula has denied the veracity of the test results, however, claiming that the stimulants were absorbed into his system from over-the-counter supplements and that nandrolone, a mass-building substance, would not have been useful to him as he has not gained any muscle mass since coming to PRIDE. According to an interview by the website www.budo.pl, Nastula has rented lawyers to solve the situation.
Pawel Nastula is suspended by the commission for nine months and fined $6,500.
